Rede Expressos in Portugal rolls out PAX A920Pro to accept onboard digital payments

PAX Technology, the world's leading payment terminal solutions provider, has partnered with Rede Expressos to allow travellers pay for tickets onboard buses using card or smartphone via the Android-based A920Pro SmartPOS.

 

Rede Expressos began providing comfortable, timely and safe transportation between Portuguese cities in 1995. Today, the company serves almost 8 million passengers per year, connecting with hundreds of destinations across borders into Spain and France.

 

"Our partnership with PAX was born out of the need to offer a modern mobile payment service that allows travellers to purchase bus tickets directly onboard using credit cards or mobile wallets, reducing the need to buy at physical ticket offices and thus speeding up the travel process. Onboard digital payments using the PAX A920Pro

 

Rede Expressos bus drivers use the A920Pro with integrated barcode scanner to select the passenger's fare, accept payment, print the ticket, as well as perform regular ticket inspections.

The project is part of a Rede Expressos initiative to upgrade its technology offering, which also includes planned deployment at ticket offices of PAX SK700 self-service kiosks with the Android-based IM30 unattended payment terminal. This will deliver greater customer convenience when purchasing, exchanging or printing tickets, at any time and through a variety of channels.
